Prince Kiama
15 years old, attending UWC East Africa, Moshi, Tanzania. Prince was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in May 2024.
Prince has managed the transition to IB successfully and maturely. He is a strong academic achiever across all his subjects and is laying the foundation for excellent IB achievement. He is particularly proud of his progress and achievement in Maths.
Prince is a dedicated long-distance runner and has participated in 10km and 21km categories in a variety of marathon events. He is a keen hiker and enjoyed climbing Mt Kilomeni as part of his OP programme. He is starting tennis and basketball at school and is also learning the guitar.
After his first year in a new school, Prince is establishing a strong presence, and his social influence is developing well. He has demonstrated initiative and confidence by hosting whole-school events, such as the Art Gallery exhibition and he is also involved in school-based initiatives such as working in the community garden.
Prince is active in several service groups through school, notably knitting blankets for babies at KCMC and helping at a local school. He is proud to volunteer at an orphanage and he participates in beach clean-ups. He is looking forward to his summer Citizenship Project where he will be working with young people with disabilities.
Beacon Workshop Participation
In Workshops, Prince is a good team player and takes on a variety of tasks to support the team. His confidence to contribute is growing with each workshop he attends.
Beacon Summer Citizenship Project
Prince’s Summer Citizenship Project was called ‘Unlocking Potential: Building a Caring Community (BCC) Through Empowering Disabled Youths‘ and was carried out in Kilimanjaro, Moshi Town.
