Tanzania schools
The Beacon has partnered with the following top schools in Tanzania to offer The Beacon Scholarship for School:

The Beacon Scholarship at HOPAC
Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) has been operating as a Christian international school for 17 years. In our short history, we have experienced many blessings. HOPAC was founded in 1994 by a group of missionaries who wanted to meet the educational needs of their children. Today, our school serves over 300 students with over 40 teaching staff. Within our student body and staff, 40 different countries are represented. Our philosophy of teaching is Christian-based. We seek to integrate a biblical worldview throughout our curriculum. We believe that by integrating a biblical worldview into our curriculum, we are equipping students to live their lives to the glory of God. Our school motto reads “Leadership, Service, Stewardship”. Our students are mentored to be leaders both in and outside of the school. Our service learning programme provides students with the opportunity to serve the greater community. Finally, our students are taught that learning is a privilege that needs to be well stewarded and that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

The Beacon Scholarship at IST
Founded in 1963, International School of Tanganyika (IST) is an independent, private, not-for-profit day school located on two campuses in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Our name, the International School of Tanganyika, reflects the fact that we were founded before the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar which became Tanzania. IST offers rigorous academic programmes coupled with a wide range of extra-curricular activities serving students from age 3 to Grade 12. We have about 1000 students representing more than 60 nationalities with 80% of the students speaking more than one language. We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) and are a Round Square Member.

The Beacon Scholarship at St Constantine’s
Founded in 1952, St. Constantine’s International School is the oldest private school in Tanzania; however, it is far from old-fashioned. The School is going through an exciting period of development to ensure that it continues to be regarded as one of the premier international boarding schools in East Africa. St. Constantine’s is a Round Square School. The School currently serves 650 students from 38 nationalities; of these, 90 are boarding students. We endeavour to provide a holistic education with a careful balance between academic, pastoral and co-curricular components of our programme; we strive towards excellence in all three areas. At the centre of school life are our IDEALS. We fully embrace six areas: Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service.

The Beacon Scholarship at UWC East Africa
UWC East Africa (UWCEA) provides a world-class education through a challenging international curriculum in a dynamic environment. Both Moshi and Arusha campuses have boarding facilities. Moshi campus accepts boarding students aged 7-20 years. Our school values diversity and we are proud of our African roots, which allow us to embed local culture and language into our learning programmes.

The Beacon Scholarship at Braeburn Arusha

Creativity in all its forms is at the heart of our school: students from Y4-8 learn to play a musical instrument and are given time to practice every day and over half the secondary are involved in our annual production. Our aim is for all our students to be responsible, confident individuals who find their own individual pathways to success. We offer IGCSEs, vocational BTECs and A level qualifications in a wide variety of subject areas.
Students are supported to build on their leadership potential through attending leadership training or taking on positions both inside and outside the school. Furthermore, our service-learning programmes are diverse and varied, giving students the opportunity to work with children, the environment, animals or an international NGO. We equip everyone to make a difference to the world in which they live. Our school motto is ‘Summum Appeto’ which is Latin for ‘Reach for the Top.’
