Grace Kejo
18 years old, attending the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) UK. Grace was awarded a Beacon Scholarship for University in May 2024 and a Beacon Scholarship for Schools in June 2022.
Grace is studying towards a BSc in International Social and Public Policy. She has used her first year at university to explore different study and revision techniques to her best advantage. She enjoys wider reading in and around her subject and has enjoyed considerable academic success in her first year at LSE.
Grace appreciates all that London and LSE has to offer. She was recently elected as the Secretary of the Music Business Society; she is a prolific songwriter and gives regular performances at LSE and other London venues.
Grace thrives on connection and is adept using a wide range of social media to give voice to the causes she is passionate about. She used this skill in her role as Under-Secretary General of Marketing for LSE’s MUN conference. She is active in her role as LSE Student Content Creator where she produces Vlogs to document student life at LSE.
Grace has fully immersed herself in service and Citizenship around LSE. She’s involved with the Debate Mate programme, judging competitions and mentoring local schoolgirls to improve their debating skills and build their confidence in public speaking. As an LSE Thrive Mentor, Grace supports minority school students in their applications to university, by giving them campus tours and facilitating virtual events.
Beacon Workshop Participation
In Workshops, Grace demonstrates her capability to lead teams and to bring people with her. She is confident and animated herself, and brings these traits out in her team as well.
Beacon Summer Citizenship Project
Grace’s Summer Citizenship Project was called ‘Promoting Youth Civic Engagement in Dar-es-Salaam’ and focused on researching the factors which limit civic engagement in Tanzanian youth.
