Aloyce Hagila
17 years old, attending International School of Tanganyika, Tanzania, Aloyce is a hard-working Scholar who has a passion for his work. Determined to do his best, Aloyce has invested extra hours on his various subjects and has created study groups with his peers, which are paying dividends when it comes to results.
Embracing a variety of sports, Aloyce plays Junior Varsity basketball and volleyball and also plays tennis. He successfully planned and executed a basketball tournament involving local and private schools, recruiting volunteers to help him. He enjoys drama and has taken part in two school plays and in the ISSEA arts and drama festival.
A keen public speaker, Aloyce participates in MUN and secured a seat on the security council in DARMUN where he led his side of the debate. He has been a member of two committees on the Student Council. Aloyce likes to help others and has planned bonding days and started a mentoring programme for scholarship students.
Aloyce has a dream to enhance education in Tanzania and has connected two disadvantaged schools to TEDx Upanga Youth. He also collected data in Gongo village to help design a library interior. He has connected a group that helps nearby schools get access to clean water with potential sponsors and teaches English to employees from a local business.
Beacon Workshop Participation
At Leadership Workshops, Aloyce adds valuable contributions and actively take part in discussions. He has a strong, clear voice and his passion and ideas for leading change are evident.
As a new Beacon Scholar, Aloyce spoke about his work with his school Charity Club, how he supports teachers at a school in his community, and his involvement with the ‘Kits for Kids’ charity.
