Anas Emarah

17 years old, attending St Andrew’s, Turi, Kenya. Anas was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in May 2024.

Proud of his excellent IGCSE grades achieved at the end of Yr 11, Anas is approaching his A-level courses with determination and a thorough study plan. He has a passion for Biology and sport and is aiming for a career in Sports Science or Physiotherapy.

Anas is a talented sportsman. He was awarded U19 male athlete of the year after success in cross country, 800m and 1500m school competitions and a bronze in KAISSO finals. He enjoys football and reached the final of a football tournament with the school team and has now made his debut with St Andrew’s Football Club. He is a passionate member of the school choir and has taken part in MUN and the school debating team.

Anas has a passion for mental health and is working to promote it through organised friendly interhouse matches and publicising stories. He mentors younger students in his boarding house, discussing issues that affected them, helping them to achieve social and sports targets. He also enjoys academic mentoring and runs a maths tutoring programme for IGCSE students and is confident of their success.

Anas is committed to service and Citizenship. He belongs to the Lions Club and is helping to clear the River Sosiani of plastic and other waste. Other service activities include a donation programme for St Andrews FC and coaching football to disadvantaged children. Anas has also made a food shelter for a secondary school, hosted a charity video game tournament, and developed a proposal to improve the drainage of a school football pitch.

In Workshops Anas is engaged and dynamic, showing confidence when speaking and contributing to both breakout room and plenary discussions.
