Mugane Muriuki
Attended Greensteds International School, Nakuru, Kenya, until June 2024. Mugane was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in June 2021.
Following GCSEs at Greensteds, Mugane earned a scholarship place on the African Leadership Academy High School Diploma. Mugane is an extremely conscientious student across all his subjects and consistently works to a very high standard, paving the way for the highest grades in his GCSEs.
Mugane enjoys considerable success in all his co-curricular endeavours. He enjoys orchestra, drama, is a keen cross-country runner and plays basketball to a high level. He has been the Conference Chairperson of the African Leadership Academy Model African Union (ALAMAU), a role which places him at the head of the secretariat which leads and organises one of the largest youth model African Union simulations on the continent.
Mugane maintains a high personal profile, and is heavily involved within the school community. Leadership roles include House Captain for the Congo house, and a role as a Peer Supporter/ Counsellor. He is motivated to make a difference and improve things by getting involved.
Mugane enjoys varied Citizenship activities including tree planting and supporting refurbishments at a primary school in Eldoret, which he combined with his President’s Award activities.
Beacon Summer Citizenship Project
Mugane’s 2023 Summer Beacon Citizenship Project was about raising awareness for, and volunteering at, the New Life Orphanage in Nyeri county.
