15 years old, attending St. Constantine’s International School, Arusha, Tanzania. Nureen was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in June 2022.
Nureen is a hardworking and determined student who has seen her grades improve thanks to her efforts – attending extra study sessions with peers and teachers, practising past papers and utilising online resources. She has gained several A*, A and B grades over the past year and has recently taken her Maths IGCSE early.
Nureen enjoys many co-curricular activities; she represents her school in the U16 netball team and played both netball and volleyball in the Moshi Sports Weekend. She also swims, plays football and enjoys drama. She particularly relished being part of the directing team as Costume and Prop Director for the school play. She has found a new passion for debate and attended the EAMUN in Nairobi as representative for Bhutan in the Ecology Committee.
Nureen is an active member of her school community. As representative to the Boarding Council, she supports new students to integrate into school through pastoral support and organised activities. She works with the Environmentalism Council to implement the sorting of food waste and recycling plastic. Popular with her peers, she has been on a local podcast empowering students to strive for academic success.
As Deputy Head of Service, Nureen makes a real impact in her community. Service activities she’s involved in include a Christmas donation drive, funding different charities with food, clothes and toys, and a follow-up drive for ‘Crocs’ which was a great success. She has hosted two charity visits at school and collects clothes to donate to a nearby orphanage.
