Wise Musinguzi

Attended the University of Surrey and graduated in 2023, having held a Beacon scholarship for 4 years.

Wise, from Uganda, is currently completing his Solicitor Qualification Exams (SQE) ahead of starting his legal career at Stephenson Harwood LLP in September 2025. Immediately post-graduation, Wise completed internships in Private Equity investment and Investment Banking at the London offices of DigitalBridge and Guggenheim Partners respectively, and maintains a strong interest in finance and business.

Wise graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, achieving a 2.1 overall. In his final year he was awarded the Commercial Law Prize for the best Commercial Law paper at undergraduate level. A committed student, Wise participated in several study groups for different modules, and built productive relationships with his lecturers throughout his studies. During his studies, Wise gained internships at Warner Bros, Goldman Sachs and current employer, Stephenson Harwood.

Wise enjoys debate, and during his time at Surrey he participated in weekly debates and a friendly, external debate tournament at Royal Holloway University. He also enjoys rugby, walking and jogging.

Wise is proactive, sharing his experiences to help others: he has written an ambassador blog for international students, including one about securing placements. He has also assisted as a speaker with an internship guidance workshop for second years. He enjoys mentoring and regularly gives guidance to new Beacon Scholars.

Wise’s Citizenship activities have included a focus on Prostate Cancer charities, as well as organising and participating in a mock trial as Defendant Counsel as part of a Surrey County Council campaign against knife crime, which was recorded for use in secondary schools.
