Zawadi Mwambeyu

Attended the University of Bristol and graduated in 2023. Zawadi, from Kenya, was a Beacon University Scholar for 4 years and a Beacon School Scholar for 1 year. She was also the recipient of a Think Big scholarship from Bristol. Zawadi now joins the Structural Team at Ramboll’s Bristol office as a Graduate Structural Engineer, pursuing her chartership.

Zawadi graduated with an MEng in Civil Engineering with First Class Honours. A passionate student and engineer, Zawadi regularly undertook independent further study around her subject and her commitment impressed industry leaders that she worked with as part of her course. She is also a previous Women in Property National Student Awards winner.

Zawadi enjoys being active and staying fit, which she achieves through running and hiking. She understands the importance of networking, to help her career and support others: at Bristol, she was involved with the Civ Soc, and as their secretary, she co-hosted various networking and social events to assist undergraduates to find employment. In this role, she also distributed the society’s newsletter. She has a tradition of representing her peers, demonstrated by her involvement in a committee representing final year students in the review of Bristol’s degree accreditation. She is already an active member of the Beacon Alumni group.

As a Changemaker, Zawadi focuses a lot of her energy on representation and mentoring: she represented her cohort as course representative, mentored younger Civil Engineering students and coached a 2nd year Engineering Design student who was nominated for (and won) the South-West Women in Property award.
