16 years old, attending International School of Lusaka, Zambia. Zion was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in May 2023.
Zion works hard to secure exceptional academic achievements across all his subjects. He is particularly strong in computer science and is noted as a consistently focused and diligent student showing great commitment to his studies.
Zion demonstrates all-round athletic ability and has enjoyed considerable success representing the school in U19 basketball and football, as well as cross-country running. He excels at a range of athletic disciplines, with his skill and commitment recognised with numerous ‘Most Valued’ accolades and the school sports’ letterman jacket being awarded.
Zion enjoys debate and is involved with the school MUN. His leadership of the MUN club has had 2 positives this year: he has been instrumental in growing the club and he has improved his confidence and skill in public speaking, leading to a Most Promising Delegate award at ZAPMUN. In his other leadership roles this year – House Captain, and joining the class prom planning committee – Zion demonstrates his burgeoning social influence and ability to take people with him.
Zion’s Citizenship interests are varied. He is leading a ‘Plant-a-Spot’ initiative in his local community, encouraging others to join him in planting in currently unused areas. Concurrently he has also identified community clean-up challenges as beneficial for community pride. He continues to volunteer for his church community.
Beacon Workshop Participation
In Workshops, Zion is confident when making contributions and he brings creative solutions to group activities.
Beacon Summer Citizenship Projects
Zion’s Summer Citizenship Project was called ‘Roots of Change‘ and involved planting seeds or cuttings in unused areas in the local environment, to aid biodiversity and natural beauty.
