Ariella Bagarukayo

18 years old, attending the University of Birmingham, UK. Ariella was awarded a Beacon Changemakers University Scholarship in May 2025.
Ariella is studying towards a BSc in Physics and Astrophysics. Prior to that she attended Galaxy International School, Uganda, where she completed A-levels in Maths, Chemistry and Physics. Achieving excellent A-level results, Ariella is a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic. She notably achieved the Certificate for Future Intelligence Students Olympiad (FISO) Silver Award for her achievements in Chemistry.
Ariella enjoys a range of co-curricular activities. She is actively involved in music and drama, plays the piano and performs in singing recitals. At her previous school she participated in interhouse soccer and basketball competitions and won an award for best breaststroke in the Interhouse Swimming Competition.
Showing strong initiative, Ariella founded and held the position of Club Secretary of the Cancer Catalysts’ Club, where she coordinated events and managed a team of volunteers. Ariella has also achieved her Gold D of E Award and was Group Leader during the expedition.
Ariella is a committed participant in community and citizenship initiatives. These have included blood donation drives, charity events, and programmes to support orphan schools.
Service Experience
Ariella shared her experience as cofounder of the Cancer Support Catalysts, which aims to spread awareness of cancer and its risk factors.
