Farzana Huysman
Attended Trinity College Cambridge, UK and graduated in 2019, currently working at McKinsey and Company London. Farzana, from Kenya, was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in May 2015 and was a Beacon Scholar at university for 4 years.
Farzana graduated with an MEng in Engineering, winning the Sir George Nelson Prize in Applied Mechanics (top mark in Mechanical Engineering). Farzana joined McKinsey and Company as a summer intern in 2018, and re-joined full-time as a Business Analyst in January 2020.
While at Cambridge, Farzana was very active in college sport, playing football, hockey, and touch rugby. In her third year, she captained the Trinity College Women’s Football Team and the following year was Secretary of the Trinity Field Club (College Sports Association). In 2019, she completed the Cambridge Half Marathon in under two hours.
Outside of sport, Farzana’s biggest role was the Personnel Officer for the 2019 Trinity May Ball, in which she hired, trained, and managed 250 student workers to set up and run the 2000 person event. She also helped a number of students from Kenya apply to Cambridge or for managment consulting industry roles.
In her 6 months between university and work, Farzana taught English to high school and university students in Japan, coached football at a youth programme in Uganda and backpacked through North India. At McKinsey, Farzana has been active in leading voluntary consulting support for Oxfam and supporting the social programme for summer interns.
