Godwill Alendro
Alendro attended Cardiff University, graduating in 2023 after holding a Beacon Scholarship for three years. Following graduation, he completed an internship with Howden Group Holdings in collaboration with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and he is currently a paralegal at Simmons & Simmons.
Alendro graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, achieving a 2.1 overall. This was thanks to a strict timetable of keeping up with deadlines and assignments, and holding fortnightly tutor meetings and monthly study groups with fellow Beacon Scholars. He also engaged in weekly discussion groups leading up to the exams.
Alendro is an active communicator and networker. He has recorded podcasts on the growth of private credit and instability in global banking, written articles on private equity practice, started a blog on commercial awareness, and secured a role as a writer for the North Wing Magazine specialising in Private Equity and Health. He is also a great believer in helping others progress their careers and has helped other Beacon Scholars secure vacation schemes and training contracts, as well as securing three such schemes for himself.
Alendro’s Citizenship interests have been focused around securing professional opportunities for Ugandan students and graduates. He plans to hold two seminars with Career XP, along with market experts in venture capital and banking, for students to engage, network and quiz industry professionals. He also volunteers with ‘Adferiad Recovery’ – a charity providing support for people with mental health problems, substance misuse problems and complex needs.
