Grace Kejo
17 years old, attending the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) UK. Grace was awarded a Beacon Scholarship for University in May 2024 and a Beacon Scholarship for Schools in June 2022.
Grace is studying towards a BSc in International Social and Public Policy. Prior to that, she attended Haven of Peace Academy in Tanzania. Grace is an academic high achiever, gaining excellent grades in A-level Psychology, English Language and History.
Grace enjoys a range of co-curricular activities including football, playing the piano and guitar. She’s a keen debater and at school, led the school MUN Club; she has further experience as a conference organizer and speaker, and has a 2 times best delegate award and received an honourable mention at the Yale MUN.
Social Influence and getting her voice heard are Grace’s superpowers: she is a skilled communicator on social media creating educational content, and a regular delegate/organiser at TEDx conferences. She was also part of the Yale Young Global Scholars scheme, attending a summer school there in 2024.
Grace is committed to promoting education for all, and initiatives she has led include a service project called ‘We Are Change’ with students from a local school, organizing workshops in debate, public speaking and problem solving. She has dedicated 40 hours as a volunteer teacher, teaching disadvantaged girls business skills and was a ‘Rise for the world’ global finalist for her project on Mental Health and Music.
Beacon Workshop Participation
Grace’s 2024 Summer Beacon Citizenship Project was a Sustainable Development Goals Education Workshop In Dar Es Salaam – a two week course focusing on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and how they relate to young people’s lives, as well as debate practice using MUN techniques.
In Beacon Workshops, Grace has shown herself to be a strong leader, but also supportive of others in their leadership journeys, stepping in to support her peers where necessary.
