Jamie Jean-Louis

18 years old, attending the University of Surrey, UK. Jamie was awarded a Beacon Scholarship for University in May 2024.
Jamie is studying towards a BSc in Sports Science & Exercise. Prior to that, he attended St Andrew’s School, Turi, Kenya, where he completed A-levels in Physical Education, Business and Geography.
Jamie is a keen and talented sportsman. He enjoys athletics, cross-country and hockey, and led his school teams in these sports. He won the Kasarani Athletic competition whilst captaining the team and has represented his school in a wide range of track events. Jamie has a great passion for running and has trained at the Iten Camp for Running in Kenya. He is also an accomplished football, rugby, and cricket player.
Jamie has great social influence with his peers, evidenced by his role as Head Boy in his final year at school. He is known as a listener and a doer – taking the initiative and bringing people with him with his empathy, encouragement, and ability to unify his peers.
Jamie is involved in several Citizenship activities: he helped to repaint classrooms at Kapkong Primary School in Eldoret and was awarded a distinction from ‘Bushculture Kenyan’ for his input. He was also the project coordinator for the Molo Street Children’s Project, holding weekly sports sessions and mentoring the children there.
