Beacon Gap Year Scholar – Kenya

Megan is a capable student leader who has a strong sphere of influential. She plays an active role in shaping student life through leadership, mentoring younger students, and supporting community improvement initiatives. Megan spearheaded a project aimed at improving study skills to support younger learners through a community-based programme, helping students build more effective learning habits. In addition, she initiated ‘Frugal Lunches’, encouraging peers to consider social responsibility and redirect resources towards charitable causes.

Beacon Summer Citizenship Project

Megan’s Summer Citizenship Project was called Sharpening the Axe and built on last year’s work at Mukuru Community Centre School in Nairobi, and aimed to deepen and expand the teaching of study skills to students in classes 7 and 8.
