Mugane Muriuki
Attended Greensteds International School, Nakuru, Kenya, until June 2024. Mugane was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in June 2021.
Following GCSEs at Greensteds, Mugane earned a scholarship place on the African Leadership Academy High School Diploma. Mugane is an extremely conscientious student across all his subjects and consistently works to a very high standard, paving the way for the highest grades in his GCSEs.
Mugane enjoys considerable success in all his co-curricular endeavours. He has played in the Turi orchestra, enjoys drama, is a keen cross-country runner and enjoys basketball to a high level.
Mugane maintains a high personal profile, and leadership roles have included Year 11 Student Rep and Senior Sports Captain. He is motivated to make a difference and improve things by getting involved, notably with the student voice body at school.
Mugane enjoys varied Citizenship activities including tree planting and supporting refurbishments at a primary school in Eldoret, which he combined with his President’s Award activities.
In Leadership Workshops, Mugane steers his group tasks well, makes good decisions and is always actively involved in all parts of the workshop.
Beacon Workshop Participation
Mugane’s 2023 Summer Beacon Citizenship Project was about raising awareness for, and volunteering at, the New Life Orphanage in Nyeri county.
In Leadership Workshops, Mugane is self-driven, vocal and innovative. He comes up with solutions and ideas and speaks with confidence.
