Eng Dr Damaris Kerubo Oyaro

Dr Damaris Oyaro is a Civil Engineer with over fifteen years of experience in water resources, environmental and sanitation engineering, research, planning, design, and construction supervision.

Dr Damaris is an accomplished Civil Engineer with over fifteen years of progressive experience in water resources management, environmental and sanitation engineering, research, planning, design, construction supervision, and professional training. She holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi, as well as an M.Sc. in Water and Environmental Management (Sanitary Engineering) from the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), a registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), and a Certified Public Accountant finalist.

Dr Oyaro is a dedicated academic and currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at the University of Nairobi. She is deeply committed to mentoring young engineers, supervising students, and driving professional growth within the engineering community.

Beyond academia, Dr Oyaro is an influential leader in the engineering profession. She serves as a Council Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and is the current Vice Chair of the IEK Women Engineers Committee. She is also the former Outreach Committee Chair in IEK, where she spearheaded initiatives promoting STEM visibility, career development, and opportunities for young women in engineering. Additionally, she is the current Chair of the IEK Capital Branch, where she leads branch activities, capacity-building programs, and member engagement efforts.

Her strong passion for mentorship is demonstrated through her active participation in the She2She Mentorship Program under IEK, where she provides career guidance, professional coaching, and personal development support to young female engineers and engineering students across the country. Her career reflects a profound commitment to technical excellence, leadership, mentorship, and advancing sustainable development and gender inclusion in engineering.
